With 670,000 Americans fighting some form of blood cancer, Mandy Moore and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society are gearing up to raise millions of dollars through the annual Pennies for Patients Program.
Launching in schools around the country on January 26th, the program will offer children the opportunity to donate money towards leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma research. Collecting $10.5 million dollars last year alone, the program teaches students the importance of caring, respect for others, and community service.
As the Honorary Chairperson for the Society's School and Youth Programs, Mandy Moore plays an active role in the organizations efforts. In 2003, she visited students in the nation's number one fundraising school to congratulate them on their efforts.
With the new year bringing fresh hopes and new challenges, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is making it easier than ever for schools to make a difference. Schools may now register to take part in the Pennies for Patients Program by logging on to www.schoolandyouth.org.
Way to go, Mandy!
