Mandy Moore Tweets on Behalf of the West Memphis 3

 

Turning to her popular Twitter-feed, Mandy Moore addressed what has become a high-profile subject. "Free the West Memphis 3!" tweeted Mandy, recently.

Offering a link to the group's official website, Mandy joins fellow stars including Johnny Depp, Demi Lovato, Natalie Maines Pasdar, and Winona Ryder in defense of a group dubbed the West Memphis 3. Convicted for a crime that many criminal and legal experts believe that they did not commit, they have been imprisoned for nearly two decades. 

The West Memphis 3 refers to Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley, Jr., and Jason Baldwin who were tried and convicted for the brutal murders of three children in West Memphis, Arkansas. Linked to the victims through microscopic clothing fibers and a controversial confession by Misskelley, two of the teenagers were sentenced to life in prison, while Echols was placed on death row.

With the West Memphis 3 continuing to plead their innocence, attorneys for the defense have recently filed a Second Amended Writ of Habeas Corpus on behalf of Echols, Misskelley, and Baldwin. Seeking a retrial, the case has yet to be determined by the courts.

Mandy Moore Shares Her Thoughts on Quake-Ravaged Chile

In solidarity with earthquake-ravaged Chile, Mandy Moore took to her popular Twitter-feed to share her thoughts.

"Sending thoughts and prayers to the people of Chile," said Mandy.

Here at MandyMooreBlog.com, we share Mandy's sentiments. Chile, which experienced a powerful  8.8 magnitude earthquake on February 27th, 2010, is still grappling with the aftermath of the fifth largest trembler in recorded history.

To date, over 300 Chileans have been reported dead, while another 1.5 million men, women, and children have been displaced.

To help those affected by the earthquake in Chile, please consider making a donation to the American Red Cross's Chile Relief and Development Fund, now!

Mandy Moore Dishes on 'Southern Sweet' Chip Coffey

Turning to her popular Twitter-feed, Mandy Moore wasted little time in dishing on a recent chat with psychic, medium, and spiritual advisor, Chip Coffey. "Chatted with Chip Coffey yesterday, and I completely geeked out," confessed Mandy. "He was as refreshingly honest and southern sweet as I had hoped he'd be."

Featured on "Paranormal State" and "Psychic Kids," Chip Coffey is one of the best-known figures in the paranormal field. The self-professed great-grandson of famed Native American medicine woman Minnie Sue Marrow Foster, Coffey has appeared on Larry King Live, Entertainment Tonight, Montel, Maury, The Insider, Coast to Coast AM, and OutQ. 

A resident of the suburbs outside of Atlanta, Coffey operates a popular private practice and website. A dedicated volunteer at several hospice organizations in Atlanta including The Twilight Brigade/Compassion in Action, Coffey is also an avid animal rights advocate and works with groups all over the country to save the lives of animals.

Mandy Moore Tweets Video Preview of Neal Casal Photo Book!

Have You Seen Mandy Moore in "Romance & Cigarettes?"

"Romance & Cigarettes" is a sensational musical drama directed by actor/filmmaker John Turturro. Featuring an all-star cast, the film follows the story of Nick Murder, a middle-aged iron worker (James Gandolfini) who strays from his beleaguered wife (Susan Sarandon) into the arms of a seductive sales girl (Kate Winslet). Featuring music by the likes of Tom Jones, Bruce Springsteen, Cyndi Lauper, and James Brown, the film's characters use their favorite songs as a means of communicating their deepest emotions. 

Mandy Moore plays Baby, Nick's one-of-a-kind daughter. The youngest of three girls, Baby's personality is contrasted against sisters Connie (Mary-Louise Parker) and Rosebud (Aida Turturro). A tempestuous mixture of her fiery parents, Baby's only weakness is for her pompadour-sporting, James Brown-wannabe boyfriend, Fryburg (Bobby Cannavale).

Miguel Escueta Covers Mandy Moore's "Only Hope"

Back in December, we discussed Donna Lynne Champlin's cover of Mandy Moore's hit track, "Only Hope." A powerful song that appeared in Mandy's 2002 film, A Walk to Remember, it resurfaced on Champlin's debut album entitled, "Old Friends."

To our surprise, we discovered yet another re-release of "Only Hope," this time by Filipino pop-phenom, Miguel Escueta. Appearing on his third studio album entitled Sleeping While the World's Awake, "Only Hope" is among a handful of covers by the 25 year old artist, better known for such original hits as "Handa," "Falling Away," "Take Me There," and "Close to the Edge."  

In a nod to Mandy's original rendition, Escueta easily connects to the raw emotionality in this impressive re-release. Showcasing a polished alt-rock sound that combines remarkable vocals with inspired instrumentals, the latest version of "Only Hope" is a delight to listen to and enjoy.

Mandy Moore Responds to Tiger Woods' Public Apology

To her nearly two million followers on Twitter, Mandy Moore is a down-to-earth icon unafraid of tackling the current issues. Responding to the latest apology by disgraced golfer Tiger Woods, Mandy praised the troubled athlete. "Very honorable words by Tiger Woods," said Mandy. "Good for him."

Considering the controversial nature of Woods' nationally-televised address, Mandy's sincere words must come as a breath of fresh air. After all, fans of the superstar golfer were stunned back in late 2009 as he weathered allegations detailing more than a dozen extramarital affairs. Generating a firestorm of negative media coverage, the issues threatened both his marriage and livelihood.

Despite winning three Grand Slams and 71 PGA Tour events, Woods' long-term career is very much in question. To date, AT&T, Accenture, and Golf Digest magazine have each terminated lucrative partnership deals with the 34 year old golfer, while Woods' participation in the PGA Tour is under a self-imposed suspension.  

In light of Woods' difficult admission, we join Mandy in praising this sincere apology from one of the world's great athletes.
