Mandy Moore joins another social initiative as she teams up with former U.S. president Bill Clinton at Brown University this April.
Taking part in the Clinton Global Initiative University's third annual conference, Mandy and the former president join special guests John Podesta from the Center for American Progress and former Olympic speed-skater Joey Cheek. Based on the model of the Clinton Global Initiative, the event brings students together to meet with non-governmental organizations and college presidents to proactively take part in the discussion on social change.
Like Mandy Moore, entrants are "doers" who come "well-equipped." Brown students like Helen Mou, do even more than that, co-founding the Sustainability Consulting Partnership, a student-run, student-volunteered consulting organization that helps for-profit and non-profit business partners with their sustainable goals.
For advocates of social change like Mandy Moore, the willingness of students to solve problems in education, environment and climate change, peace and human rights, poverty alleviation and public health makes a huge difference. "It's encouraging in every way...that (students) would want to do this," says fellow veteran advocate, Ted Widmer. It "deepens our already existing relationship with (the initiative.)"
Way to go, Mandy!
