Spotlight: Laura Marling's 'New Romantic' Video

In discussing Ryan Adams' collaboration with 21 year old singer/songwriter, Laura Marling, we couldn't help but spotlight one of Marling's best-known songs.

Entitled "New Romantic," it's a song that namedrops 'Ryan Adams' in its lyrics, but also starts with a catchy, upbeat tempo that mellows into a beautiful love song. The slower the song, the more Laura Marling sounds like Joan Baez, and that's always a good thing.

Throwback Video: Mandy Moore in "Crush"

In the hopes of maintaining that romantic feeling from yet another Valentine's Day gone by, we're going back to 2001 for a Crush-tastic Throwback Video featuring Mandy Moore!

Debuting on her third studio album, "Crush" appeared as Mandy's sixth single. Written by Kenny Gioia and Shep Goodman, it followed the release of "In My Pocket" in mid-2001. Accompanied by a colorful music video directed by Chris Applebaum, "Crush" was a popular sensation, reaching Number One on MTV's Total Request Live on September 10th, 2001.

Appearing alongside a number of other poppy favorites including "You Remind Me," "Cry," and "17," "Crush" is considered to be one of Mandy's most popular tracks to date. Boasting over four million views on YouTube, its popularity is well-deserved as a result of its catchy melody and sunny lyrics. Recalling the very best in 90's era pop, the music video is also notable for Mandy's look-a-like version of Michael Jackson's jacket from "Thriller."

Throwback Video: Mandy Moore in "Drop the Pilot"

When it comes to a collection of classic music, few albums top Mandy Moore's 2003 album,"Coverage." Featuring music originally performed by such legends as Cat Stevens, Carly Simon, Joni Mitchell, and Carole King, the release is among Mandy's most memorable.

Among the album's best-known tracks is Mandy's rendition of Joan Armatrading's classic tune, "Drop the Pilot." Featuring a catchy melody and driving beat, the song is memorable for its classic pop feel with plenty of soulful substance.

Note Mandy's incredible look in this official music video. While never released in the States, we consider this to be one of her most dynamic selections.

Throwback Video: Mandy Moore in "On the Line"

In honor of the approaching New Year, we're harkening back to 2001 for a sentimental Throwback Video featuring your favorite songstress, Mandy Moore.  

Nearly a decade ago, Mandy joined the members of *NSYNC, Christian Burns, and True Vibe in the official music video for the romantic comedy, On the Line. A blend of sugar and spice from the super-sweet film, the video is a must-see for fans of the pop sound from the mid-to-late Nineties.

We can't help but notice that Mandy provides the only female voice among the multi-part harmony. Looking fabulous as usual, she is all that and more amidst the video's star-studded cast.

Throwback Video: Mandy Moore in Elton John's "Original Sin"

With album sales topping nearly two hundred million, five-time Grammy Award-winner Elton John is truly in a league of his own.

With hits like "Rocket Man," "Candle In The Wind," and "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road," it may come as a pleasant surprise that the 62 year old singer-songwriter featured songstress Mandy Moore on the acclaimed video for his 2001 hit, "Original Sin."

Elton John and Elizabeth Taylor play Mandy's parents in the video, which features our gorgeous starlet as as an awkward teen, circa 1976. Transforming into a bubblegum princess, Mandy is magically transported to the front row of an Elton John concert, where she rubs elbows with celebrity look-alikes of Liza Minnelli, Cher, and others.

At such a young age, the experience would seem to have left an indelible mark on then-17 year old Mandy. "The most amazing part was just talking to him," she said of Sir Elton. "It was honestly one of the most special times of my life. It is the coolest thing. My parents were completely in awe too...it was too cute!"

Mandy Moore's Music Video for "I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week"

We hear it's another cool, beautiful evening in Los Angeles, and starlet Mandy Moore has just returned from a marathon trip to find a wonderful new washer and dryer.

With November nearly upon us, we can hardly contain our exuberance over the possibility of yet another single from Mandy Moore's latest album, "Amanda Leigh." With that thought in mind, we couldn't help but offer Mandy's first single and breakout hit, "I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week." Mandy has described the song as "a way of owning and acknowledging your sense of self-worth in a rather tongue and cheek manner." 

In the video, note the appearance of former UFC light heavyweight champion, Chuck Liddell. Making no secret of her recent interest in Mixed Martial Arts, Mandy Moore appeared just last year at UFC 83 and 84.

Throwback Video: Mandy Moore in Brett Dennen's "Make You Crazy"

Some of you may have heard of up-and-coming singer/songwriter Brett Dennen recently... In addition to appearing at the prestigious Newport Folk Festival back in August, he was featured on the David Letterman Show earlier this month, performing music off his most recent album entitled "Hope for the Hopeless."  

He also counts our beloved songstress, Mandy Moore as one of his supporters. In a flashback to the recent past, Mandy appeared on Dennen's music video, "Make You Crazy," back in October 2008. In the video, Mandy stars as an adorable shoe store customer alongside red-haired cutie and shoe salesman, Dennen.

Named one of Rolling Stone Magazine's Ten Artists to Watch back in 2007, Dennen's video is notable as he clearly shares Mandy Moore's drive for social change.

Pop Princess Tiffany Giardina Covers Mandy Moore's Hit Single, "Candy!"

A little more than a decade after its original release, we we're surprised to find that Mandy Moore's chart-topping single, "Candy," is making a rather remarkable comeback. 

Returning to a legion of all-new teen listeners, the song is covered on Tiffany Giardina's debut album, "No Average Angel." A rising young talent who was featured on the soundtrack for Another Cinderella Story, 15 year old Tiffany is coincidentally the same age as Mandy when she first released "Candy."

While it goes without saying which version we prefer, we were perturbed by one of Tiffany's YouTube videos that claims "Candy" as an original song. So we're setting the record straight: listen to the original and Tiffany's cover, and let us know which one you prefer. Enjoy!
